Muskoka half ironmanMy family and close friends cheered me forward each step on September the 8th as I conquered the Muskoka 70.3 half ironman. What an intense mentally and physically challenging experience. Even more challenging than completing the race was the ongoing discipline required to train for the 1.9km swim, 94 km bike and 21 km run all the while balancing my priorities of family, work life, and of course rest & recovery. I trained with my neighbour and friend, Chris Hunter, who pushed me every step of the way. Thanks Chris. Our preparation required 8-12 hours of training a week, 6 days a week. Our wives gave us this half ironman as our Christmas gift last year; we’re not sure if they realized what they were getting into but their support and encouragement for the past 9 months has been incredible. Both Chris and I finished the race faster than our goal. The scenery was beautiful and the entire experience was unforgettable!
