Last month we plopped ourselves onto the couch, flicked on Netflix and started watching “Sully” with the family to better understand grade 6 science. But this movie taught us a whole lot more than the science of flight. It reminded me of the time I met Dave Sanderson at the Leadership Waterloo Region event. Dave was the last passenger off of US Airways Flight 154910 years ago when it made its miraculous water landing on the Hudson River. During his speech, he reminded the audience of the fact, that when faced with a crisis, one thing is certain; moments of training and hours of preparation do matter. As Dave showed us, ultimately, you can take a potentially tragic experience and turn it into an opportunity to survive and thrive!
