Another successful year celebrating my 2 boys strong finish in what has become an annual family tradition for the last five years, The TriGator. Trigator4kids is a triathlon hosted in Elmira for kids ages 3 to14. The event is a fundraiser for jumpstart, a nonprofit organization that provides access to sports for kids who could otherwise not afford it. The efforts over 220 volunteers is what makes this event so successful. This year the radar showed a storm rolling in and forced the decision that it was more important to shorten races to get everyone through the event than to leave people short of a fun experience. Out of 750 registered racers there were less than 7 racers left to finish on the run course when the storm warning horn sounded to end the event as lightning struck in the distance. Both Cade and Sam were able to finish strong, conquering their personal bests and enjoying the celebration with family and friends afterwards.
