Happy Birthday Canada!

Activities & Events to Celebrate in the Waterloo Region

Celebrating Canada's 150th Birthday in the Waterloo RegionCelebrate 150. We live in a great country and it is always wonderful to honour that on Canada Day. This year it’s even more special as we mark 150 years of our awesome nation.

If your Canada Day isn’t complete without bright lights and big bangs there are a number of fireworks shows planned in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Kitchener City Hall, Riverside park in Cambridge, the University of Waterloo grounds, Bingemans in Kitchener and surrounding communities like Ayr, New Hamburg and Guelph are all going to light up the sky once the sun goes down.

Many communities are making a full Canada day of it. In K-W, the Kitchener Market is offering a special Canada Day program, local museums and historic sites have organized special events and downtown Kitchener and the University of Waterloo have an evening of food and entertainment before they light up the sky.

The festivities in Cambridge start at 8 am with a fishing derby at Riverside Park and run all day long with a full slate of entertainment, food, a parade and, of course, spectacular fireworks to close the show.

Guelph’s Riverside Park opens their festivities at 11 am with a day of entertainment, food, vendors fireworks and for an extra special touch a Citizenship Ceremony to welcome a group of new Canadians.

There are interesting things to do in surrounding communities such as a car show and rubber duck races in New Hamburg or a soap box derby, parade, free lunch and more rubber ducks in Elora.

If you would like to make your Canada Day travel as spectacular as the fireworks consider Brentwood Livery for chauffeured limousine luxury. Make an evening or a full day of it. Choose your events and we’ll get you there and back safely, stress-free and feeling like a Prime Minister.

Happy Birthday Canada!
