I had the opportunity to volunteer my services at MARILLAC PLACE with a group of 15 guys for 3 hours as part of a GO mission. My 14 year old son was one of the guys, and what a joy to work with him. He was willing and eager to serve. It made me proud to watch him work with a heart of compassion. Marillac Place provides opportunities for brighter futures to mother-led families at-risk in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. It offers safe accommodation, with basic life skill training, child care guidance and educational opportunities. They offer accommodation for up to 10 moms and their babies for up to one year of community living. Our team tackled the gardens, outdoor play area, cleaning the coach house, painting and applying new trim to the common area, while another crew set out to restore the foundation to eliminate the leaking foundation problem all within a 3 hour time frame. Together we can help break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
