Our family was privileged to receive 5 VIP tickets and backstage passes to a Bryan Adams concert on February 26th. This stop in Hamilton was part of his 30th anniversary RECKLESS tour. Hard to believe its been 30 years since the release of the famous "Summer of '69"!
There's no denying it's cold outside in Canada this winter! And once again, our family spends these cold days and nights in hockey arenas, with no wind chill or snow falling.
What Hats do you Wear? I am uncovering the roles that I play in life that require me to wear multiple hats. I coach my son's hockey team, I have for years. On the bench, I am Cade's coach. I always wear my Dad hat when I am with my kids BUT in order to keep the boundary lines clear, Cade refers to me as coach.
Christmas is a magical time of year yet for most of us it feels like the busiest and most hectic season. Thankfully, I have positive influences around me that inspire me to slow down and celebrate the greatest gifts in my life.
I am pleased to report another excellent year participating in THE GRAND RIDE for Grand River Hospital Foundation on Sept 6, 2014. I again raised funds and Brentwood contributed chauffeured service for Alan Doyle and his musicians, Curt Harnett our Olympic medalist & Steve Bauer our Canadian Pro cyclist, plus all the riders home at the end of the ride.
What would summer be without thousands of kms cycled & hundreds of liters of fuel burned while having fun on the water behind our boat? The kids don't typically cycle with me but our boat times provide hours of family time together.
I write this enthusiastically to inform you that we are home safe from our #bikelimobustour2014. Check out our tour on twitter or view our blog http://differentthinking2014.wordpress. A picture with scenery is just a picture.
Since Laura's concussion in the Fall, we have been studying ways of healing the brain. She has recovered well, however, still experiences the occasional symptom. Our research has led us to important life lessons applicable to everyone regardless of injury.
May is Speech and Hearing Month; a month we celebrate that our deaf son can hear. Cade, our middle son, was born profoundly deaf. He received cochlear implants at 17 months. Because of these implants and years of therapy, Cade hears and speaks remarkably well.
I cannot help but reflect on the benefits we have living here in Canada. It is easy to complain and focus on what we do not have and what we wish for (just ask my kids!). It is harder and takes more effort to be thankful.
